Time And Circumstance Poem by Claude H Oliver II

Time And Circumstance

We who live each day
Are subject to the sway
Of these two parties
In each and every way
No matter what we do
No matter what we say
No matter our dreams or thoughts
These fellows march on
Oblivious to what they have wrought
These fellows – agents of change
Most miniscule, mundane and overwhelming.
Their names – Time and Circumstance

Time wins no matter our pace
Stand still – we age
Keep up – we age
Run fast – we age
Circumstance is also there
Always ready to be
Not conscious when, how, or where
Hand in glove, Time and Circumstance affect our days
Unemotionally with no favor or special grace
No attention to special place
Yet this we know of these two
All must meet them
No peace from them in this life
Necessary companions on life’s road.
