Time's Crime Poem by Christopher Teale

Time's Crime

The maddening passing of time
Can you hear it? its almost a crime
that it would steal happiness from so many
happiness lost in the blink of an eye and all taken to insanity
insanity of an ancient mind
of an old man who cannot find
an end to the spending of his life
except for death approaching at quick stride
and memories return unwanted
memories of love once battered
battered by time or battered by truth
something the poor soul never understood
and tears run down his eyes to
for things he cant undo
things that haunt his dreams at night
and fill his wise-like face with fright
We cannot stop it, the passing of time
it will come to commit its crime
it will come to take your life away
It will come to you without delay
Even if it isn't real
It will come like a ghost in a dream
To drown away your final scream.
