'Tis All About Poem by Francis Duggan

'Tis All About

'Tis all about the winners who kick the winning score
And 'tis all about Nationalism just that and little more
'Tis much more than a game to most with National pride at stake
For the winning team the glory and the losing team heartbreak.

'Tis all about identity with the National flag
Though without the colours on it all 'twould bewould be a piece of rag
Then why all of the excitement and why all of the fuss
Are the supporters of the winning team any better off than us?

Why some people take so much pride in a sporting victory
Is all about patriotism or so 'twould seem to me
And 'tis only about arrogance and our egotistical conceit
And only the 'could not care less' can smile and joke in defeat.

'Tis all about our tribal traits or so 'twould seem that way
That we greet every goal that our team scores with a huge hip hooray
And 'tis all about our frailties for we after all are frail
But suppose it is a natural fear our fear that we might fail.
