To A Fire Fly Poem by Diptesh Augustine Sarkar

To A Fire Fly

In the darkness
my soul cried out
even a faint glow was enough.
You at such an hour
were darting about
with a luminescence down at your tail
and I was enraptured at your
prize denouement.

an earthen lamp was flickering:
it overwhelmed me
its dauntless resistance
to wind and darkness
its lone battle—
and alas! Couldn't help my feet
doddering to its proximity…
