To A Friend With A Benefit Poem by Lindsay King

To A Friend With A Benefit

Don’t lie to me
I won’t lie to you
I can be disconnected
It’s easy to do
Mutually benefit me
And you can get off, too
Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder
Just don’t be too charming
With promises of a hypothetical future
I don’t mean to be so alarming
I’m just being honest
To the point where I can say
Don’t hurt me—please
Don’t lie to me
I won’t lie to you
Tell me what this is
‘Cause you heard what I said
Honesty is the key to my heart
And the key to my bed
