To Alexis, Love Me Poem by Michelle Rainey

To Alexis, Love Me

To My Dear Alex,

I held my breath
I held your words
I opened your note
I opened my heart
I read your words
I read your soul
I couldn’t speak
I couldn’t breathe
I wiped a tear from my eye
I wiped a smile from my face
All I wanted was to be with you
All I wanted was too far away from me
A torn page
A torn girl
I sit in a chair
I sit and stare
I try to move
I try to get up
But I can’t
But I am stuck
Trapped in the depths of my soul
Trapped in a well oozing my blood
As I fall
As I drown
I see a light
I see you
In my heart there is strength
In my heart there is a song
It cries out my name
It cries out who I am
A person renewed
A person less weak
I am strong
I am me
To my hope
To my sister in Christ
To the one I love
To my friend
I want to hold you tightly
I want to thank you sincerely
Because my inspiration
Because Alexis-Anne Beyer
You gave me life
You gave me a letter

Love Always and Forever, Me
