To Be Someone To Someone Like You Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

To Be Someone To Someone Like You

Rating: 5.0

My black mock turtleneck shirt is covered in sawdust
I look like I just came in from the snow
It feels good to be outside
working with my hands
I need a woman who understands

My hands are warm
My hands are rough
I've had it up to here, I've had enough
I'm softhearted inside
I'm not so tough

I need someone soft to hold next to me
I need someone who gets me
who makes love to me
who isn't perplexed by me
Isn't that the way it's supposed to be

The saws and the hammers fit right in my hand
I wouldn't mind if I had to live off the land
and shelter you from the cold
if the truth were told I'm not so old
My heart is beating and to someone it could still be gold

I'm a simple guy
with a complicated heart
I just need someone who tries for me
who tries to do her part
I need someone who doesn't break mine apart

The air is cool, the evening's coming
When the sun sets I'll come in from the cold
I'll wash off the sawdust and sit in a chair
I'll try to imagine what it would be like
if you were with me here, or if I was there

I need someone like you by my side
I need another heart to share and confide
I need someoen to kiss me and miss me
and to make me fell that love is real
I have a broken heart and it's so hard to heal
