To Be With My Grandpa Poem by Anil Kumar Panda

To Be With My Grandpa

Rating: 5.0

I stand under the tree
And look at the dark sky
Where to, my grandpa said,
He would go when he would die

And would see me from there
Roaming around becoming a star;
Sleeping all through the days and
Shining at nights, not too far;

I am looking for his
Face in millions of light
Wish to shine as a tiny dot by
His side, from a great height.

When night comes I stand
Under the tree and look
For the dearest soul I have lost,
O God, take me there, at least by fluke.

Here I see the characteristic innocence of a child searching for his long lost dear grandpa among the stars! Though grown old, in certain things we are like children! I enjoyed the line....'sleeping through the whole day and shining at night'! A sweet poem of longing!
