To Ellis Poem by eliza keating

To Ellis

my chance, believed had passed me by,
thought you would never come
and then i got to know you
soon my heart you won

and when we met no shooting stars
or music did i hear
but still i held you in my arms
a need to keep you near

i look at you and see you, as my wonder of the world
those deep blue eyes, and smiling face
with hair all wild and curled

for years id yearned to meet you, at last my yearning done

my life complete my daughters here
a sister for my son
