To Lose A Child Poem by Bob and Alex Eichen

To Lose A Child

Rating: 4.8

I'm alone
Lying in bed
The door to my room is open
I can see people walking in the hall.

I'm alone
Sitting in a chair
By the window, looking out
I can see people walking down the sidewalk.

I'm alone
Standing on an empty playground
Looking out through the chain link fence.
I can see cars driving up and down the lane.

I'm dying, but I'm not dead
I'm dead, but I'm still breathing.

That's how it feels
That' how it feels
When you lose a child.
