To Lose A Loved One Poem by chris ryder

To Lose A Loved One

Rating: 5.0

Take this kiss upon your lips!
And, take me back into your arms,
Thus much let me avow-
You are not wrong, who deem
That my words have been foolish;
Yet, if Hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it, therefore, the less gone?
All that i see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.

I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold you within my hands
strands of your golden hair,
flutter in the breeze
how they creep Through my fingers,
While I weep- while I weep!
O God! can I not grasp
you within a tighter clasp?
O cathy! can I not save
Our love from the pitiless wave?
Is all that i see or seem
But a dream within a dream?

Beauty and love are all my dream;
They change not with the changing day;
nor with the tide,
Love stays forever like a stream
That flows but never flows away
you are all i want you complete me.

And then you came with those red mournful lips,
And the whole of the world's tears,
And all the sorrows of your labouring years,
And all the burden of your myriad years.
you are all i want to love
you are all i want to protect.

you and i are so alike it scares me,
we both have our scars and stories
fit for campfires and stary nights;
we both bring years of hurt, anger and sadness
like baggage that has been left.
i want to wipe away all that bagage and start anew.

This is great writing, so in tune. Wipe away, every day is a new start. Smiling at you Tai
