To Love Again Poem by Matthew Edan Oliver Palma

To Love Again

How sweet the air smells
How comforting your smiles
How tender is the sunrise
How calming is your touch

To love again after all these years
To take the chance after all this time
You must really be something special
You must really be heaven-sent

Yet the fear sometimes grips a heart beat
And the pain reminds the mind
As uncertainties unfold before my eyes
I think twice about this second-try

But how lovely the songs the birds sing
How enchanting your sweet voice
And how graceful the trees bend slowly
How your presence to me beckons

To love again after all this time
To take the chance after all these tears
You must really be something wonderful
You must really be GOD-sent

And although my heart does skip a heartbeat
‘Though my mind remembers the pain
Before uncertainties I close my eyes
I’ll just give this a second try…
