To My Best Friend Poem by Radhika Karia

To My Best Friend

Hey friend, I always forget to express what you mean to me;
You are a perfect example of how all best friends should be.
You have given me so much and asked for so less;
You stood by me even when I was a complete mess.
You smiled at my joys and cried with my tears;
Days I didn’t talk to you, felt like years.
You shared your secrets which I kept close to my heart;
We both were not ashamed to talk of boys, burps or fart.
Our chats online, our long phone talks;
Our weird little moments, our quiet long walks.
You were there through my temptation of boys in my life;
You were even there when my silly mind was in strife.
With you in my life, it was a blessing from above;
With you around there was nothing I didn’t love.
The sweet hugs you gave me from time to time;
The affection in your eyes no one could mime.
‘Take Care’ was a little word but you added so much to the word;
When I wanted someone to listen, you made sure it was heard.
I was ‘only yours’ and you were ‘only mine’;
Our friendship got better with years, just like wine.
This world moves so fast, the relations get lost so soon;
But you were there in my life, just like earth has the moon.
So I say all this to myself as a reminder of every memory;
For all the wonderful times we have shared and how much you have meant to me;
So when in past I didn’t appreciate the joy you brought me everyday;
Thus I remind myself often that you are special to me in every way.
