To My Daughter Poem by Antonio Liao

To My Daughter

Rating: 5.0

in your eyes
i see my face
and i remember the
flower of my
youth

now the petals
are gone
but then
i see myself bloom
again
in your garden

how i wish to
bury all my unfinished dreams
in the sockets of your eyes

how i dream
to be inside you forever

but no
as you blink today
i see in your heart another face
the one that you love
the one that makes
your heart full

that emptiness now
that i can no longer fill
you bloom
as a flower yourself
then someone
shall pick you

and i shall be this stem
without leaves
surrendering
to the sun

I love this poem...it is through the eyes of our children that we see who we are and appreciate what they will become. Great write and I enjoyed reading it.
