To My Mother Poem by Zia Eybers

To My Mother

Rating: 5.0

I hope you find this poem to read
So that my appreciative words can be freed
My gratitude towards you I will express on a page
Open to everyone in this digital age

Your existence is worth sharing
Because throughout all the sadness
You never stopped loving and caring

I could never understand you as a child
But realise it’s because my teenage rebellion ran wild
I could never understand your irritation
But what did I expect…
I was the master of procrastination!

I remember it was laughter I was fighting
Cause when it was time for a hiding
It was your tongue you kept biting

I remember you trying to keep up with our slang
When you told me my new haircut looked gross
It was with shock you froze
When I furiously explaining what gross means
You made up for your innocent mistake, with a new pair of jeans

Today I am ever thankful
I know I was a handful
And harsh words was sometimes in need
For now I can proudly follow your lead

You gave me nothing but stability
You gave me so much strength
Your guiding words saved me from humility
And for all that I can thank you in length

Thank you for always being there
Thank you for never giving up hope
Thank you for all the care
Thank you for never getting tired of my constant mope

You are my Mother
You are indispensable

Indispensable is something you can not do without
A daughter can not do without her mother…

My daughter, I found your poem and read it. You are the reason why I want to grow old, very old. You are my 'Life Bonus'

Very nice tribute to your mom, very gently penned with much honesty from within the heart, a heart only a mother loves to the depth and core...... bonnie
