To My Sad Friend Poem by Dana Lamb

To My Sad Friend

When solitudes collide
It’s quite against the law of gravity
They pull together, then bounce back
Too terrified to acknowledge
A need so appalling
That the promise of its fulfillment
Brings you back into your own Hell
For moments are fleeting
And all things are fickle
Hearts are deceptive
As years keep rolling
Happiness is ever evasive
And there’s always too many words
You thought my dark eyes mirrored your loss
And in my face you saw
A reflection of your own sorrow
And I wasn’t even there
