To Pollute And Destroy As We Choose Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

To Pollute And Destroy As We Choose

Icebergs melting,
Rapidly under stars.
As Earth revolves,
Evolving with a speed...
Ignored but doing this,
Right where we are.

Instead of giving this a priority,
We believe we exist only to feed...
Greed and selfishness.
Yet...
So fast and quick is this life lived,
As if another Earth is being created...
To suddenly appear.
That will caress our whims with a similar gift.
As we transfer an allowed self-centeredness...
To pollute and destroy as we choose,
All of the Universe to abuse as ouselves we have done...
And have shown we have the experience to do.

the last line misled the real reason for writing this poem. How long we should have this experience and how many generations must experience to find the same misdoing? what is the remedy?
