To See The Sea Again Poem by Shalom Freedman

To See The Sea Again

TO SEE THE SEA AGAIN

To see the sea again
To suddenly wish to go beyond
Where one is
To go out farther
To know the mystery
To go beyond where one is
The unending sea
The endless blue of it all
The hope of some other life
Some other world

To think to set out again
And know deeply in one’s soul
That the shore is one’s home
That an old man travels slowly
Over small distances only

To see the sea
To dream again
To know it is only a dream
And still to love the beauty
And the hint of something else
In the long blue distance
