To The Poet, Who Was Once Twenty-One Poem by Andrew David Clarke

To The Poet, Who Was Once Twenty-One

When I say to you, that
-you are a thorn amongst
roses!
you will know three things

_ 1: that I have
once again misunderstood
the general hubbub

_ 2, that a mistake
is often the more abrupt form
of truth

_ &3,
Get out of the mirror
and get into the street
you have a prophet's voice
and a streetwalker's legs
life has need of you;
you aren't dead
yet
