Today Poem by MaryLisa Russo

Today

Rating: 5.0

What if you went to bed
Slept 9 hours
Opened your eyes
And saw total darkness
No daylight
No sunshine....
The daily beginning
We take for granted
That never begins...
Well then,
Today
You do
You live each day
Like it is your last
Like the sun will never rise
After today
Like you are
The only beam of light
A candle
Standing between you
And darkness
Forever dancing
And flickering
In the tango of
A fully lived
Life...
Today

Very true. Yesterday is history, tomorrow is mystery while today is a gift from Him and hence, it is called present. One must make the optimum use of today to live a meaningful and worthy life. Thanks for sharing.10 points.

Wonderful poem, we take so much for granted and don't realize how short life really is and how fast things can change.

You nailed it Christopher...change marches on even if you want everything to stay stagnant in life. We are just candles hoping not to blow out too early...
