today i stepped on your little toe

i really didn’t mean it you know,

and when i picked up my pen to write about it

i couldn’t use the occasion to take for granted

and facet this space into a literary place –

for all i wanted to say was that

i’m sorry if i had hurt you,

and that really should do

… for now.
