Together As One Poem by Hannington Mumo

Together As One

One and all
Hear this divine call,
That we should live together as one;
Peace and unity must be our tools
Or we together perish like fools.

One and all,
We can choose unity or together we fall.
Tribes are but hopeless illusions
And races are man-made divisions.
We can break all these and live together as one.

One and all,
Every mind and every soul;
Let freedom spread unfettered
And the rights of men flourish unbound,
So that we may heal every tie and bond.

One and all,
Beloved citizens of Kenya;
Let the rule of law prevail,
And the wheels of justice turn without fail,
And the boat of liberation unhindered sail.

One and all,
Behold the dawn of democracy,
That dooms all the reigns of autocracy,
And waters the maiden shoots of fairness:
To end any shadows of dictatorial darkness.

And now may the world watch us grow
Beyond the limits of any horizon and shore;
May the civilized world
Now see us shed the leaves of old,
And watch as we clothe anew!
