Tokens Poem by G J Salgado

Tokens

The words that do not speak are hard to find,
Changes with the personalities that are in my mind,
Will they forget me when they are left behind,
Invading memories I used to know will be left blind.

Where is the time when it decides to disappear,
Among the shadow I cannot see that clear,
Is it me that they've become to fear,
When I speak it's not the world that you hear.

Changing from what is not there and what is within,
Taking back time from where it once began,
Giving from all the gifts that they send,
Will our hearts remain the same in the end?

Burns from the photos that were once taken,
Wasted ashes flicker as they consume the wind,
Keeps me alive but will their minds be left broken,
Nothing is left as their souls are stolen.

The images fast forward then they rewind,
Angers the beast that fears to be kind,
Takes the breath away from the hours in the hind,
It has taken my body and separated it from my mind,
These are the tokens of my soul that are left behind
