Tomorrow Poem by Edgar James Momoh

Tomorrow

I long for you like yesterday
As I gaze at your silhouette today
But what do you have for me tomorrow?
Is a question I can't escape asking
As I ponder on all you brought me today
Yes, I long for your coming
Even though its scares the day light out of me
Come quickly if your fists are clenched with glad tidings
Come slowly if you would take my joy away today
Come, never come if you are like yesterday

O' tomorrow, you are endowed with mysteries beyond my understanding
You seem so close yet too far away
Sometimes you're 24 hrs away yet another,365 days away
Should I wait for you in a jiffy or for eternity?
Yes, I long for your coming
Even though you're shrouded in mystery
Come suddenly if my expectation is worth the wait
Come seldom if I won't stand the weight of your might
Come, never come if you are like today

Ah tomorrow, the grandchild of yesterday
The only child of your parents today
Come quickly, come suddenly
Don't delay if you have the keys to my dreams
Come, please come like yesterday
Because today is almost done
I can't wait for you tomorrow
