Tonight, Tonight (My Angel) Poem by Justin Gildow

Tonight, Tonight (My Angel)

Rating: 5.0

Sleeping peacefully in my bed
Dreaming wonderful dreams
And in my mind
I'm enjoying the image of a beautiful tranquil night
With the appearance of so many stars

A gentle tapping is heard outside my window
It wakes me from my sleep
And I head over to my window to see what it is

Outside an angel floats in the air
Completely dressed in white
With stars in her hair

She tells me she's come to visit me tonight
That tonight is my special night
That she wants me to fly alongside of her
I tell her that I can't fly and it would be impossible if I tried
But she tells me not to worry
For she has magical stardust that will allow me to fly

So I let her into my room
And with a handful of dust
She sprinkles it on top of my head and hands

Suddenly I'm floating in the air
And my feet are off the ground

We float out the window
Closing the window behind us as we fly away
Away into a world of shadows
Away into the wind
Away into the glow of the moon

Flying beside each other
We pass over the town I live in
And it's hard to believe that I'm flying beside an angel
But I'm definitely believing

We fly out to an island
Somewhere out in the ocean
We sit on top of palm trees
Just taking in the beauty of the night

Afterwards, we fly into a silent cave
Where bats are sleeping
And the water gently is rushing
We touch down on the stone floor of the cave
And walk and run here and there
Just enjoying the beauty and serenity

After all our fun we catch our breath
And she asks me if I'm happy with my life and in life now
I tell her I am on both counts

We talk about many other things
Like love and life
As the night moves along

After all the talk
You say you want to sing for me
So I let you
And you have a wonderful voice
It's a wonderful sound

As you finish your song
I applaud you

Time has moved by so fast
And it's time for us to fly back to my home
Back to my room
And so we do

As we reach my bedroom window
I gently open it and we gently fly in
I return to my bed
Blankets over me and a pillow behind my head
You walk over and kneel down beside my bed

You tell me to enjoy life
You tell me to enjoy the rest of the night
As I'm ready to fall into a deep sleep
You kiss my forehead
And you tell me you'll be watching over me

I stay up for a few seconds
As you leave through my window
And you shut it behind you
You softly wave to me and smile
As I fall back to sleep
And you fly away

I'll hold these memories that you've given to me always
My Angel
