Too Late Poem by Courtney Shanahan

Too Late

Rating: 5.0

His knees went weak.
His mind went blank.
He knows what he saw
It wasn’t a prank.

He ran to the car
There was blood all around
The hospital was far
And it was her on the ground.

It was her on the ground.
The girl of his dreams.
Looking at her without a sound
He didn’t hear the screams all around.

No this is a dream!
He wanted to scream
She too young to die!
It’s all fake! It’s a lie!

They took her away
When ambulance came.
but it was too late
And there was no one to blame.

He never told her that he loved her
She would never know about his attraction
He was too afraid of her reaction
Now he would regret his action

Just ten minutes ago
He had a chance to tell her how he felt
How her face would glow
How his heart would melt.

But he kept his feelings hidden
Now she is forbidden
There will never be another chance
There will never be a time for another glance
