Too Young To Understand Poem by joseph lonergan

Too Young To Understand

Too Young To Understand

Josh is only six too young to understand
Lying there in hospital Mammy takes his hand
Now she dresses him taking him for a walk
She hopes he'll understand why mammy has to talk

Walking through a park showing him all the beauty
Because his mother knows this is now her duty
Tears flow down her face as she holds her son
He is so excited having lots of fun

Now they sit and talk words she tries to find
Hope you understand son keep it in your mind
Josh you know your sight it's not very good
I'd really take your place if only now I could

Josh I really love you remember now my face
Last time you will see doctor's have too race
Take away the cancer must take away your eye's
Hope you understand son now again she cries
