Tower Of Our Strength (For The Former President Of Usa, George W Bush) Poem by Anita Shanti Joseph

Tower Of Our Strength (For The Former President Of Usa, George W Bush)

Tower of Our Strength
(For the President of the USA, George W Bush)
The towers of liberty
Stood tall as powers of victory
Equality and freedom
New dimensions in the world of poetry
Showers of richness and wealth
The twin words of Love and Faith
Not ugly in her own sense
But in itself was grounded to zero – blown apart
Could it be true? Some cried, ‘Cruel hands of fate! ’
Was it not just envy and lust – or more?
Breaking our hearts in pain
A mother struggling in her labour pangs
This cowardly act of the terrorists
Goes down in history in furore
Much like the oil wells of the Gulf War!
A dark soot of hate, blown through the chimney
It clouded our very minds
All the dust rubble and smoke
Their corroded hearts crumbled
They feasted their own selves to death
Only Hope like a deflated balloon hissed.
Self-destruction their weary companion
Beggars of love and affection
Their egos buried in their turbans
Too afraid of love and care
With no compassion – sad faces
Of deprivation – and stench
More daggers than polluted air

Buried in the rubble of tyranny
While their women like dust in the boots
Wept, chained to their dead bodies.
Our world stood still
Flags were down for a minute
Just for a moment to mourn
Shocked into silence…
Our pulses shattered
Like delicate time pieces
Innocence in an hour was shrouded
Our hearts sank, to the bottom
The ebb was at the lowest
And as the tides turned over
I wonder! Could one zero in
On love and loveliness
Those deep blue and green eyes
With golden and red hairs
Remind me of the ocean that’s one
Love shone brighter than stars
That cold, dark night, united
Shaken humanity, and tears
Like gentle rain fell – to the grounds
In prayers and worship
Brought all to knees in mystery!
Gathered against the terror of terrorism
For the sad lapses of last goodbye
Only the kisses of memory remained
The bugles of Justice soon sought
And we fought – to damn and drive the devils out
Caved in their own wickedness
The ‘axis of evil’ blasted
Like ballistic shells – blew out
Rocked by the earth we trembled!
How sweet the sound of Bush Jr.

In my ears echoes a Robin Hood
Braveheart a dart of love
In the gloom of the dark skies that night
Do we sing for the gallant wizards
In all sincerity and in fairness
For the prosperity of our souls!
Long have we waited
For that horse-drawn chariot of bravery
To burn down chain of beastly tyranny
And belch our tears away
Champagne for our free spirit
That in bondage lies and cries
Like a wreath laid
To our living dead lives
Flutters not our eye to sleep
Till the flames burn the sick animals down
And with humanness will endure
Till the last men breathe
For a world that waits to understand
The paradigm of love and hate.
But the victor of love
Shall ever live…
In the thirsty hearts of all
‘In God do we trust’? – Yes I do
We are risen heroes
Who shall never bow to cowardice?
We look up to saviours
Who bring change and winds
And make History in our hearts
So we may sing and smile
A sweet new song as the morning breaks
And glad we had a life!
