Toy Soldier Poem by Rose Marie Cook

Toy Soldier

I am a little toy soldier
Broken and used
You send me to war
When I can barely salute.

They put me in battle,
They arm me with guns
Just a little toy soldier,
What have I done?

Every second I hear someone scream in fear.
Every 3 seconds tear, after tear.
Every 5 seconds I am bruised and beaten
This is no longer our haven.

I am a little toy soldier
Broken and used
You send me to war
When I can't even salute.

I am a little toy soldier, and now I am dead.
