Trá-Na-Rosann Poem by bryan wallace

Trá-Na-Rosann

Sun sets on Trá-na-Rosann
Spreading glorious amber rays.
Perfect tranquillity, time suspended
In the half-light of the paradise
Of a glorious August evening.
The ebb and flow of gentle waves
Washing over soft golden sands
And the multi-coloured hardness
Of tide-eroded rounded stones
Adds a peaceful melodic soundtrack
To the stillness of the night.

Four of us sat in silence
On the decorative wooden bench
In the sunset cast shadows
Of the old hostel building.
Animated discussions and conversations
Have gradually turned to silence -
Each of us now just sitting
Thinking, quiet contemplation – absorbed
In the stillness and the beauty of sunset
On Trá-na-Rosann strand.

Life stripped to it's basics -
Beautiful surroundings,
Comradeship and camaraderie.
Resting after an active day
Of adventure and new experiences.
A warm turf fire and cosy beds
Waiting for us within.
I may not be wealthy
But I want for nothing more.
