Tragedy In Bangladesh Poem by Tasadduq Hussain

Tragedy In Bangladesh

Man is man’s worst enemy when armed with greed and guns
Exploits and oppress the poor and helpless, to maximize his fun
Thousands burn or get buried alive in work place they go to earn
A measly wage of buck or two for a long day’s run

Our greedy corporations patronize the control of corrupt on site offshore
Our Politicians shun objecting in their greed for money and election reruns
Perils of poverty will never diminish, with the unethical lobbies in control
Laws are always too complex thanks to my lawyer friends
But morality, ethics and humanism must have some say in business world.

First they deprive the poor in America, by moving the jobs offshore
Then they play with the lives of the poor offshore, to maximize profits in stores
Does God of love and mercy has no control on these wretched souls?
Let’s speak up, write and protest these inhumane lords in control

The contemptible cruel injustice must stop,
To save humanity all around and even those off shore.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Recent tragic death of over a thousand garment factory workers in the building collapse and hundreds more in fire and water poisoning
is all attributed to patronizing of greedy and corrupt mill owners by the equally greedy European and American corporations.Does any one care for the poorest of the poor Bangladeshi labor?
