Trapped On Different Sides Poem by Pablo Stuart

Trapped On Different Sides

I am searching for the question
That I know the answer to
I have shared the answer with myself
And now must share with you
You must not ask the question
If you do, we both will know
That the pain that burns within us both
Is the force that makes us who we are
And what we’ve come to show.

Don’t go about your daily grind
In ignorance or bliss
Don’t put in your eight hours
Thinking this is all there is
When you know you can’t be saved
Without me knowing who or where
When you know you can’t be lost
Without anyone who cares.

Go running across the open ground
Fly your kite of dark despair
Close your eyes and run with me
And suddenly we’re there
But there’s a wall between us
And I don’t know who decides
That you and me
Still holding hands
Are trapped on different sides.
