Tree Poem by Brennah Bailey

Tree

Love is a tree
Deep rooted meaning buried beneath on lookers eyes
Bark thick enough to hold off snide remarks
Covers a trunk big enough to hold all the times we've held hands
Our names are carved there for eternity
The branches hold the newness of spring, our everlasting hope
the summer leaves the soft green of freedom
the fall leaves the color of responsibility and trust
the winter branches are the raw emotions that hold us together
Love is a tree
So solid and real
The elements combine and the roots lift up
Every secret exposed
Prying eyes prey and hands cut the tree
selfishly and burn it for warmth
