Tree Poem by Aparna Chatterjee

Tree

O, Tree
Give me
Some of
Your beauty.

I'm not as
Beautiful
As thee.

O, Tree
Give me
Some of
Your
Endurance.

I'm not as
Resilient
As thee.

O, Tree
Give me
Some of
Your
Silence.

There's
Not much
Calmness
In me.

O, Tree
Give me
Some of your
Divinity.

I'm not as
Godly as thee.

O, Tree
You are a
Treasure trove
Of wealth
With your
Flowers,
Fruits,
Leaves,
And holy
Spirits.

I'm a beggar
Before you.

Won't you
Give alms
To me?
