Tree Shaker Poem by Joelle Johnson

Tree Shaker

Did you forget heaven?
Or did heaven forget you?

You think you look in eyes of blue,
But it's eyes of hate you stare into.

Under the sky, a dome of night,
I hope the end is just as bright.

Sitting alone, bathe in the sound,
The burning starlight underground.

The trees, they shake under the sun,
And the fallen are the sacred ones.

I believed in you, and you failed to see,
The way that life abandoned me.

Irony.

And it's going to hurt, but watch my fly,
The second that we say goodbye.
