Tree Song Poem by Dreamer Neko

Tree Song

Winter came, and left me cold
Spring will come, but will
My flowers be once again part of the hill?

The wind blows, but it chills and does not refresh
Like a phoenix I die and live yet again
But this time death comes slowly,
Agonizingly, it plucks away
Each leaf, taunting me
With the freedom that death offers
Yet ushering it in with sorrow

Will I live yet again?
Do I have in me the strength,
To hold on till Winter is past?
To keep hoping for the spring I know will come?
Even as I sense my heart freezing?

Is this to be my end?
Painful and so alone?
Will my heart fail me,
Even as my last leaf falls?

Perhaps it will, and this time I
Will destiny let its course take
For my purpose in life is fulfilled
In this world of give and take

I will be remembered but,
For how long I do not know
But for some time I know I will
In the hearts of others live

And so come death take me
No longer will I fight
Instead as a friend you will be welcomed
For you will lead me
To the everlasting light.
