Tree Stump In An Oasis Poem by Aminath Neena

Tree Stump In An Oasis

As she wandered along the lonely lake
Her troubled soul
Was reflected on its glassy face
The spell of darkness
Spread by the dark wizard
Broken by the crimson witch from the east
Brought a crooked half smile to her face
Never making it to her dazed eyes
No denying the beauty
And tranquility
Reflected in the shadows
But then, this is the fool’s paradise
That she dwell on here
For her garden was withered with no blooms
Rain or shine, in a sorrowful state
No change from spring to winter
Her roots exported in a case
To an unknown land
Before she let out her first breath
All that remained was the stem
That had clung on tight to the stump
As time passed by, the stump had worn away
And now here, she stood in the middle of nowhere
Yes, The lone wolf from the pack
If not for the shoot that had sprung
Last spring from her spine, a true miracle
She would have plunged the knife of despair
Deep into her heart a long time ago
But now, fight she must to survive
And who knows...
One fine day
With fate, she just may
Come across her roots, or better still
Find a tree stump…. In an oasis
with sparkling waters
To quench her thirst of ages
Crawl over and hang on tight
On the basis of symbiosis
Spread (their) roots
Grow flowers
Bear a fruit or two
Wither away together
And 1a +1m = 1am
