Tremors Poem by Anjali Das

Tremors

Rating: 3.5

There is nothing left to say.
Letters left unsent,
tears secretly brushed away,
and I've looked back a thousand times,
there is nothing left to say.

Words can't bind you to me
if my heart is a prison and you can't breathe.
I can't bind me to you,
I see you suffocate with every word I speak.

There roars a pain in our silence
and it tremors
in my heart.
My memories of you
fall
part by part
into the great canyon-''forgetfulness''
too weak to resurrect again,
they pass into oblivion
where there isn't any me, nor any you
and there has never been an us.

Only the shadows of memories remain,
a broken breath,
a skipped beat,
words forever left at the tip of the tongue,
tears-unnoticed at the end of a song.
Mere consolations,
destined to fade away too.
