Tribute To Agno River ('Debeng'-Deep River) Poem by Jona PoloRamirez

Tribute To Agno River ('Debeng'-Deep River)

Mountain ranges smiling dawn of the day
River sleepless, awakened by a peeking sun's ray
Beyond the upper eastern horizon a mind dares to wander
Only to be brought back by the song of a kingfisher
Flew by the rolling diamonds of sparkling, winding river
On its way yonder to a smiling, grinning dusky bay.

A village at the foot of the ranges, shades of green
Shadowing houses - overlooking a bank- between
The village and the winding river - sparkling, shining
In the early daylight of day, a beginning
A new life, blooming in the air after a rainy
Gloomy yesterday - now only a memory.

A shadow looms, standing on a huge white rock
A face of sadness and regrets but refuses a gloomy look,
Laughter from a pool mirror, the river just run by
Faces of children delighting in the cool swim of day
Sweet giggles enticing and happy, water's warmth hello
Soothing, calming, holistic in view, nature and children in glow.

Behind the white clouds, a smiling sun
Refuses to hide but join the fun - below a welcoming open land
In lustrous green, wild sunflowers glowing in between
Breeze dancing, a touch to my face again
A childhood memory wanting to dance and be carried away
Miles of silvery winding water, down to the wide open bay.

Looming shadows, bittersweet memory, wishing to fly with the wind
Remaining lustrous green land awaiting for the sun to rise again.

('To my beloved birthplace, you are always with me.' Jona)
