Tribute To The King Poem by Tania Montgomery

Tribute To The King

Rating: 5.0

There's a throne that's safely kept, it's for all the tears that were wept
And I believe your 'Blue Suede Shoes' fit the bill
You've been gone a long long time and we've always had you on our mind
So the throne belongs to you and always will

I'll dream of 'Loving You', waking up to not much new
Except the crown you wore so well, fit for a King with stories to tell
'Today, Tomorrow & Forever, ' 'I'll Remember You'
You're a legend, just one of a kind, there's no replacement we'll ever find

There's no King to come close to you, no-one to fit in those 'Blue Suede Shoes'
From all the visitors who've entered the gates of Graceland
The gates should be blue, cause they're all missing you
And every year your name is spoken, from all who's hearts have broken

So to Elvis whom we all admire, that voice that had our souls on fire
Thanks for telling your stories, your humbled heart filled with glory
May you rest in peace, may you forever remain our King
Cause as long as we have life, we'll play your songs just to hear you sing

I remember that day well, you joined your mother in a place to dwell
You're probably singing 'How Great Thou Art'
We'll never forget your grace and that special smile upon your face
And the way you told it all straight from your heart
