Trooper Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

Trooper

Rating: 5.0

A trooper was shot the other day
Though he had no goal to be a hero
Shot by a man who was a zero
While trying to save a young boy's life

The trooper had three daughters and a wife
Yet when the disgruntled man moved the gun
and fear was that he was training it on his son
The trooper put at risk his entire life

The Trooper and the gunman both died
Evil and goodness side by side
One will be forgotten and despised
The other certainly raised up, I summised

But this I cannot easily forget
There are people who serve
They don't always seem to deserve what they get
But from service they never swerve

They are people ruled by their heart
More than by fear or nerve
Seeing the hero's memorial service
His untimely death........he didn't deserve this

But for heros must be a higher calling
These good servants who give their life
Survived by mourning children and a wife
He met every test of life...God embraced his soul as he was falling
