Trouble With Words Poem by William McGehee

Trouble With Words

There was a boy not long ago
Who had a thought to tell
A girl, a pretty girl, to show
He loved her well.

This girl, the pretty girl, her eyes
Were blue and wild,
Would laugh and dance with happy sighs
Then tease him with a smile.

The boy was shy and did not know
How best to make the sound
For her, the pretty girl, to show
The love he'd found

He tried to speak, he tried to sing,
Composed a line or two.
For all the words his mind could bring
The best were " I love you"
