Truly Normal Poem by Robert Eckstein

Truly Normal

A shrink told me quite some time back that I am truly normal.
I told my wife, she had a laugh
And said, 'The shrink's not right by half
'Because you are not normal'.

'Just look at you. You write bad verse,
'Your humor goes from bad to worse,
'I think it isn't normal'.

I said, 'The shrink's a career pro
'And went to school and ought to know
'Just who is truly normal'.

She said, 'The shrink's just out of school.
'I think you played him for a fool
'Just to prove you're normal'.

I said, 'I am just what I am.
'A brand new shrink's not worth a damn.
'I'll do just what I want to do'.
She said, 'I know you're going to.
'And now I think you're normal'!
