Trumpet Sound Poem by Adam Thoms

Trumpet Sound

Rating: 5.0

You know at my door, I invite You inside for a meal,
You sit down on my dirty floor, and ask me how I feel

Now that you're near,
my mind is clear,
I'm so glad you're here,
before there was fear.

When I heard the 1st trumpet blow,
I hoped I would be the 1st to go,
but by the time the 5th trumpet blew,
I was afraid I hadn't lived for you

and when the locusts came down,
I tried to hide behind Your crown.

When I heard the 6th trumpet sound,
the smell of smoke brought me to the ground,
I heard a choke, so, I called to those around,
they said if hell's no joke, we're better off unfound.

and when the horses came down,
I had the heart to hide behind your crown.

When I heard the 7th trumpet wail,
I heard the heavens over the hail.

and when the beasts came to me,
one by land, one by sea,
they said 'we don't give no charity'
then there was a great earthquake,
and I prayed the Lord my soul to take.

and now I know you're near.

Now that you're near,
my mind is clear,
I'm so glad you're near,
I can hear Jerusalem cheer
