Tuneful Shades. Poem by PAUL COLVIN

Tuneful Shades.

He feels each note, each pulsing tone
He’s lost in concentration
Sweat rolls down from brow to nose
His mind absorbed, his soul exposed
Eyes squeezed tight as though in pain
He plays his tune with soulful strain
Jumping fingers, shifting keys
A body bent up from the knees
Each note a different shade of blue
The jazzman plays his sax for you.
