Turnabout Poem by Cheyenne Price

Turnabout

i may not, i can't, i shouldn't, i won't
trusting me is something you don't
risky move to be so damn strong
pivital points when you're usually wrong

wishing I was you and you were me
a horrible cycle of excuses to be free

see my shackles plain as day
count my strikes and swing away
naive for thinking I had support
bravo to your ability to contort

no matter how much you hate it, I can take all the pain
destroying your soul to know I can easily bare blame
through all this ridiculousness I wonder
how 'power' will step aside and let 'pushover' conquer
how will 'take' bow down to 'ask'
why stop progress in favor of task?
you know you are like them yet you still pretend
to be not like them and then feel you've sinned

you will be perfect; but in your own mind
and never again shall I unwind
I'm up, you're down, you're right, I'm wrong
stamp your negativity on our love song

resenting me will only make me resent you for resenting me
a horrible cycle of excuses to be free
