Twenty First Century Girl Poem by Ayandare Mayowa

Twenty First Century Girl

Rating: 4.0

Twenty first century girl
Beautiful, well mannered, Good home
Just superficial
Her fashionable shoes hurt her feet
Brush the weavon not her hair
Bites on her nails but polish the acrylic
Good fake intonation, Bad English
Externally compact, internal disarray
Have you met her
The twenty first century girl

Twenty first century girl
Highly informed, deeply ignorant
Vast in weddings, naive of marriage
Loves her husband just can't respect him
Listens to friends not her mum
Seeks a saint, dates the devil
Poses for Abel attracts Mister Cain
Have you seen her
The Twenty first century girl

Twenty first century girl
Huge ambition, little vision
Boys crave her touch not her words
Her body not her person
Tucks her tummy but cant tuck in her son, Tommy
We love her smile not her lines
Her stature not her nature
For she nourishes the outward, starve the inward
Instead of slimmer they can be better
They are everywhere
The twenty first century girls
