Two Couches Poem by Seamus Fox

Two Couches

There were two couches separated
Making a splayed L shape and
Drooling candles everywhere
Burning themselves hurriedly out.
We had been crazy with lust for
Two long hours or more and now
Calmly sat near naked on a couch
Each reading each other poems and
Looking for universal answers.

We discussed the ways in which
We had caused each other to tingle
So sensationally and sensually,
Rejuvenation and growth,
And how we came to be so
Lustfully attentive and lengthy.

I should have went over to her
Couch and held her the candles
Would have liked that they’d
Have shuffled slightly and I’d
Have made her sigh again.
I think about this all the time but
Thoughts only make the past and
Though memories are thoughts
Some of them make very needy nights.
