Two Faces Of Pataki Poem by Hubert Wilson

Two Faces Of Pataki

For Colonel Albert Martini, USMC, USA, Ret. Survivor of the Battle of Betio (Tarawa) .

With 'supreme guts and righteousness' George Pataki did often stress,
Bush's Iraq War in 2004 the New York Governor did so bless.
For this cause,
Much stirring applause!
Now a year later,
Has his war support done nothing but crater?
Now son Teddy has a new Yale degree,
But makes a most unusual plea.
Even with a fresh Marine Corps commission,
This 2nd Lieutenant wants special permission -
A three year law school deferment!
From Bush's Iraq War Teddy has only determent?
During the Vietnam War his Daddy
Claimed bad eyes to avoid military service in a rice paddy!
Will Teddy be Fallujah bound,
Or soon be in Cambridge as the privileged son of the renowned?
This, many would gladly embrace,
If Daddy in Fallujah would take Teddy's place!
Many would really be all grins,
If Teddy was replaced by the Bush twins!
It would really be keen,
If they also brought their frozen Margarita machine!
