Two More Days Poem by Mary Jesusa Villegas

Two More Days

Two more days and I'm gonna laugh again.
Two more days and I'm gonna crack jokes again.
Two more days and I'm gonna sing again.
Just give me two more days
and I'll be okay again.

My ears cannot escape
these earplugs
The left ear hears my agony
The right ear hears my disguise
I have nothing to say
I have nothing to say
until this very day
that I saw you again.

Mom says it's okay
Before this very day
that I saw you again.
You'll find somebody else
someday
It was yesterday.
It was yesterday.
Would you give me two more days
My heartbreak.
It isn't obvious to them so you see
Let me
I won't watch any romance
I don't want another sad story
to add up to my misery
Let me have two more days
And I have nothing to do with the world
Because my broken heart needs comfort.
I'll stay frozen in my bed
until my heart is dead
Let me have two more days
But I won't stay this way
forever.

Just give me two more days
Until my shattered dreams fade away
and the restless pieces
go back to its proper place

Because two more days and I'm gonna laugh goofily
I'm gonna crack jokes and you'll smile at me
I'm gonna sing in the bathroom while I pee
Two more days until the sunshine bends
Two more days and I'll be fine again.
